Melissa Rycroft Opens Up About The Dominican Republic Trip That Worried Her Parents

The incidents with tourists’ health in the Dominican Republic have been getting more and more frequent, and they have even spread to some celebrity figures at this point.

Melissa Rycroft, famous for her appearance on the Bachelor, who is currently promoting CMT’sDallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team has recently complained of a mysterious illness after coming back from a trip to the Dominican Republic.

She told Entertainment Tonight: “There was one report that was out that I was dead. My parents were frantically calling me that morning going, ‘We are getting people calling with their condolences.’ Like, ‘Mom, I’m on the phone with you. I’m in my bed.”

“I was never under the care of a nurse. I was never dying; I don’t think. I felt like it a few times, but I was never dying,”

The reality TV star was reportedly staying at the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana together with her family.

Moreover, it looks like people around Melissa have been more worried about her condition than she did, as she has repeatedly tried to brush off the situation, explaining that it is not that serious.

Symptoms that have been reported so far include an upset stomach with severe cramps that reportedly lasted for over a week.

The celebrity did some tests for various conditions, including possible parasite infections and other similar diseases.

Her rep said last week: “She got an upset stomach on the second day of vacation, but it passed. Once they came home, she got severe cramping. She’s assuming it’s something foodborne, but no one else in her family is ill.”

Melissa herself seems to believe that she got food poisoning from something she had eaten at the resort, but this remains unconfirmed.

Other reports from affected tourists have pointed out that some resorts in the country might be using pesticides in an inappropriate manner.

This was the suggestion of one person’s physician after evaluating them for their mysterious sickness.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and it does not look like anyone knows for sure what is going

Meanwhile, Dominican authorities have reportedly been trying to sweep the issue under the rug and have been diverting attention away from the series of incidents, much to the disappointment of some of the affected people.
